Volunteer for us
We need volunteers!
Healthwatch Oxfordshire needs more volunteers for its 2016 programme of outreach and its projects, which will include gathering people’s experiences of Minor Injuries Units in our county.
Volunteers are vital to our work, gathering the experiences of Oxfordshire people of health and social care services. Having volunteers as part of the Healthwatch Oxfordshire team will help us be closer to the people we need to hear from.
We particularly need volunteers to support our outreach programme. Outreach volunteers help us to set up our information stall and speak to members of the public about their experiences at local events. All you need is to be good at listening, friendly and interested in people’s experiences.
We have a comprehensive strategy of recruiting, training, using and supporting volunteers, which is overseen by our Business Manager.
Last year, we recruited 25 local people, who were trained to help us promote our work and to undertake structured interviews with patients and carers.
Each volunteer is asked to apply in writing, and is then interviewed and undergoes a Disclosure Barring Service check. Volunteers are then invited to participate in a one-day induction training day. For each project, volunteers are given additional training so that they have a full understanding of what the project involves and what we want to find out.
