BBC takes up the cause of plain English in health

29/03/2017

The BBC has joined in the battle for plain English in the health service.

In an article in the BBC website entitled  NHS confusing public by using 'gobbledygook', it reports how the Plain English Campaign says that the jargon used by the NHS is confusing for patients.

Healthwatch Oxfordshire has long campaigned for the use of plain English by the NHS, and has openly criticised the current Oxfordshire Transformation document for some of the language used in it. On our website, you can find an NHS Jargon Buster - just click this link http://www.healthwatchoxfordshire.co.uk/health-service-jargon-explained
